Treasure Hunters

It was Elyana's last year to partake in the awesome in depth Bible program at our church called Treasure Hunters. She was excited that all three of her best friends were able to attend with her this year. The three spent their week doing lots of service projects, taking my art class, taking a Boot Camp. The overall theme for Treasure Hunters was Nuts and Bolts. It made my art projects tricky in finding things to do with nuts and bolts.  In one, we built a tree out of various sized washers on a large bolt.  We glued sequin leaves and birds on them. It was screwed into a small piece of wood (that Nate pre-cut and drilled). They painted the base.  We made wind chimes, added nuts and bolts on a wooden cross, decorated rocks with glow in the dark puffy paint. We also used special paint to make light bulbs have a stained glass effect.  Of course I had to find an in depth bible study to tie in with each theme.  Mikayla was my assistant for the whole week. It was so nice to have her as a helper. Maybe next year they both will be my helper!  In the large group, each child made a lamp out of recycled soda bottles. They painted the base and wrote scripture on it. They stuffed their bottles with anything they'd like. They turned out so neat!
